Recently, both of our water heaters went out—leaking water into the garage and down the street. (Thankfully, we don’t have units upstairs…that could have been a nightmare!)
Here’s what I discovered: the water heaters installed in 2013 (Home Depot brand) were no longer compliant with state plumbing codes.
✅ Now, with Enco Plumbing’s help, both heaters are properly installed with:
• A dedicated cold-water line for each unit
• The ability to isolate one heater if needed
• An expansion tank that satisfies both heaters
I had both Home Depot and Lowe’s quote the job, but Enco Plumbing’s customer experience and professionalism shattered the competition. Nothing cheap about water heater replacements, but I’m glad I didn’t try to DIY—my old setup wasn’t even code compliant.
💯 Highly recommend Enco Plumbing for anyone needing water heater replacement or plumbing work.

I cannot recommend ENCO plumbing enough. Our water heater broke on Tuesday and less than 48 hours later we have a new one, at a reasonable price. Chris was professional, fast, and informative. We were also able to get a quick hose bib replacement that we had needed for a long time, since they were already on site. This is our second time using ENCO for a variety of plumbing needs, and we have been extremely satisfied with their service.

One night, my water heater started leaking a huge amount of water. It was past 11 PM, and while many “24-hour” plumbing companies didn’t respond or couldn’t help, Richard from ENCO truly listened, explained clearly that it wasn’t dangerous, and set a time for the next day. That gave me so much peace of mind.
The next day, he came right on time and did excellent, professional work. Since then, I’ve always called ENCO whenever I have plumbing issues. Richard and Cody are both very kind and always go above and beyond—doing extra things without even being asked. They’re patient, trustworthy, and communicate clearly. Highly recommended!

Water Heater Repair in The Colony, TX
If your water heater isn’t keeping up, making noise, or leaking, it’s not just inconvenient—it’s a warning sign.
At Enco Plumbing, we provide fast, reliable water heater repair in The Colony, TX and surrounding North Texas communities. Whether you have a traditional tank system or tankless unit, we diagnose the issue quickly and fix it right the first time.
Common Water Heater Problems We Fix
Water heaters usually give warning signs before failing. Here are the most common issues we see in North Texas homes:
• No hot water or inconsistent temperatures • Water heater leaking from the bottom • Strange noises (popping or rumbling) • Rust-colored or smelly water • Low hot water pressure
These issues are often caused by sediment buildup, worn components, or pressure problems inside your system.
What Causes Water Heater Damage?
In The Colony and surrounding areas, hard water and high pressure are the biggest culprits.
Sediment Buildup
Minerals collect at the bottom of your tank, reducing efficiency and overheating components.
Pressure Buildup (Thermal Expansion)
When water heats, it expands. In closed plumbing systems, that pressure has nowhere to go. Over time, this can: • Damage your water heater • Wear out valves and seals • Lead to leaks or premature failure This is why expansion tanks are often required (more on that below).
Do You Need an Expansion Tank?
Many homes in Texas have closed plumbing systems, meaning water can’t flow back into the main supply. Without an expansion tank:
• Pressure builds every time your heater runs • Your system experiences constant stress • Components wear out faster
An expansion tank absorbs that extra pressure and protects your entire plumbing system. If your home doesn’t have one, or if it’s failed, it could be the reason your water heater is having issues.

Local Service You Can Count On
Water Heater Repair Cost in The Colony, TX
Costs vary depending on the issue, but most repairs fall into these ranges:
• Minor repairs: $150–$350 • Moderate repairs: $350–$600 • Major component replacement: $600+
We always diagnose the problem first and give you clear options before any work begins.
Repair vs Replace: What’s the Right Choice?
Not every problem means you need a new water heater. Repair makes sense if:
• Unit is under 8–10 years old • Issue is isolated (element, valve, thermostat)
Replacement may be better if:
• Tank is leaking • Unit is over 10–12 years old • Frequent repairs are adding up
We’ll walk you through both options so you can make the right decision.
